PhotoSwap

I think this is about the coolest app I have found yet for the iPhone. It’s called PhotoSwap. Basically, you take a picture of anything and randomly send it out to another user. In return you get a picture from another random user. You can then reply to that person with another picture, or just send a picture to another random person.

The first night I was using this, sent a picture of one of my Nintendo boxes. Amazing, I got a picture of a box for a Turbo Grafx. The for the next hour or so, we were swapping pictures of classing gaming stuff. Ended up writing an email to the guy, now I have another collector friend.

So try it out, it’s fun. You can see on Maps where the picture who sent you the picture is. You might end up talking to someone too.

Prototypes

Just picked up a Canon G9 last week and a new light box. It is great for taking close ups and easier to maneuver than my 40D. Anyway, started a page for my Prototypes and other rare video game carts. Check it out.

Pixels

Well, after much waiting and standing in line, I got my iPhone 3G last weekend. Love the phone. However, found I had a dead pixel on it and it was driving me nuts. My OCD will not allow for such things, it drives me insane. So I had setup an appointment for today to swap it out at the Genius Bar for a new one.

Well, went today got my new one. Got home and tested it out. Great, another dead pixel.. Sigh.. :-(

It’s in less of an annoying spot, but still is there when watching movies and it’s really frustrating me. Trying to decide if I want to try another swap. I have an appointment setup for Sunday morning. Grr..

I’ll write up about all the cool programs when I get over my dead pixel issues.

VM and Parallels Benchmarks

Just added a new page with benchmarks of various VMs running in VMFusion and Parallals. I used both 32bit and 64bit images of Vista SP1. The same 32bit VM was used in both Parallels and Fusion. These images are running on my eSATA RAID Array, so the disk speed results are not typical for a Mac Pro running VMs on a regular non RAIDed Hard Drive. However, it helps to show the differences in Parallels and VMWare.

Higher Rez

Well, time to re-render my photo galleries. I am not happy with the compression of the pictures in RapidWeaver, so I am re-doing my galleries using RapidAlbum. This great RapidWeaver Plugin is written by Scott Mackie at http://www.smackie.org/Software/

Now I have greater control of the quality of this pics among other things. The first Gallery using this new compression my new SASCO Gallery. Now to redo the existing ones.

Vacation is over

Well. It's now 2008 and vacation is over.. Sigh.. After three weeks of perfect weather in Arizona, was welcomed by cold rain when I got back to Seattle. Big shock there. Just starting to unpack and get settled back in. Time to process some pictures. The new 12GB San Disk Extreme III card was a God send. I only filled the card twice vs three or four cards a day with my 2GB Ultra II Cards.

I'll be adding new Ghost towns shortly.
